During the fifties, Manuel Aburuza began to develop natural cider in the farm Olatz, tradition followed by his son Juan José, who founded the current cider house “Aburuza” in 1979, and in which have taken over already generational shift their sons.
The cider house “Aburuza” is located in the village called Aduna in the province of Guipuzcoa in the Basque Country (North of Spain), and is surrounded by many apple trees since “Aburuza” produce most of the cider with their own apples, marketing bottled throughout the year.
The cider house has a dining room for up to 300 diners, which is open all year, here you can taste the typical menu (big chop of beef, cod omelette, fried cod with peppers and typical dessert: ewe cheese, nuts and quince jelly) and to drink you have the typical txotx consisting of drinking natural cider (made from the new year´s crop) directly from the kupela itself (cider barrel) located in the cellar where they produce the cider. The cider house “Aburuza” also has a bar-cafeteria.
Throughout the year, it is open from Monday to Saturday and we can taste only dinners. There is the possibility of meals only to large groups (minimum 50 people).
